Ruth Bentsen Passes

Ruth Bentsen, long time treasurer and director for Eastham Dog Owners’ Association, has passed away.

Ruth was beloved by all.  She was a kind and gentle person of many talents and a giving heart.  Ruth served EDOA as its treasurer for many years.  During that time she set about to bring the budget and accounting processes into the computer age by learning and then implementing our system.  The tasks taken on with her service included the complicated tax and government filings that go with a tax-exempt charity like ours.  Ruth even went back to “school” to sharpen her skills.

Ruth and Per have been generous and long time supporters of EDOA’s Buddy Scholarship.  Many Eastham area students have been sent off to school with gifts from Per and Ruth through that fund.

Most remembered are her thoughtful council to all with whom she worked.  Ruth could be found at all EDOA activities lending a hand, staffing the booth, checking in attendees to events or handling membership and so much more.  Through it all she remained friendly, efficient and dependable.  Ruth was as loving with her dogs as she was with her people.  Ruth is sorely missed.

Condolences to Per Bentsen and the whole Bentsen family.  Per served EDOA with Ruth on the Board of Directors and as past-president.  We share your loss in our own small way.
